Our Business

Boeing is the world’s leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial airplanes and military aircraft combined.

Headquartered in Chicago, Boeing employs more than 170,000 employees across the United States and in 70 countries. This represents one of the most diverse, talented and innovative workforces anywhere.

Boeing established operations in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1971. Over the past 40 years, Boeing Winnipeg has grown from 57 employees to over 1,500 employees. Our site designs, builds and assembles complex composite parts for the 700 series of Boeing commercial airplanes.

Our Culture

Boeing is a company of amazing people working in one of the most exciting industries in the world. When you consider our many accomplishments — from designing and building the earliest biplanes to creating and supporting today’s supersonic aircraft and spacecraft — you might think we would be content with how far we’ve come. But a company of our size and scope doesn’t succeed by resting on its laurels; we are constantly re-examining our capabilities and processes to ensure that our company is as strong and vital as our heritage. In fact, our culture mirrors the heritage of aviation itself, built on a foundation of innovation, aspiration and imagination.

For the past six years, Boeing Winnipeg was named a Top Manitoba Employer. The company has earned this recognition for the following reasons:

  • It invests in ongoing employee development with subsidies for tuition and professional accreditation, and a variety of in-house and online training programs
  • It encourages  employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle with subsidized memberships to a fully-equipped onsite fitness facility
  • It helps employees prepare for life after work with retirement planning assistance, phased-in work options, contributions to a defined benefit pension plan for unionized personnel and matching RSP contributions for non-union and management employees
  • Industrial Athlete program – Manufacturing employees are similar to professional athletes – both need physical strength, flexibility, physical conditioning and training. At Boeing Winnipeg, the Industrial Athlete program supports the conditioning and training for employees to match their job demands
